FIBA suspended Ukrainian referee Amborsov until February 2025

The Ukrainian was found guilty of violating the Code of Ethics and Integrity

International Basketball Federation (FIBA) suspended the Ukrainian referee Nikolai Ambrosov from working at all official basketball games.

The Ukrainian ban is valid until February 19, 2025. The reason given is a violation of the Code of Ethics and Integrity and failure to file a report.

Let us recall that in the summer of 2023, Ambrosov accused his colleagues on the refereeing team of the 2021 EuroCup final, Ukrainian Boris Ryzhik and Greek Ilias Koromilas, of trying to bribe him to ensure the result of one of the teams. According to Nikolai, both colleagues were in cahoots and offered him a bribe of 10 thousand euros to ensure the victory of the Russian UNICS over Monaco.

As Ambrosov claimed, he refused Ryzhik, and did not even talk to Koromilas. In the end, Monaco won by three points and won the trophy.

In December 2022, Ambrosov was disqualified for life by the FBU executive committee for participation in corruption schemes, as well as for forgery of documents.
