Double Olympic basketball champion Britney Greiner whose trial is taking place in Khimki, said she takes full responsibility for the banned substances found in her luggage.
An American woman was arrested in February on suspicion of trying to illegally import hash oil through Sheremetyevo airport, and a criminal case has been opened for drug trafficking. Greiner faces a prison sentence of 5 to 10 years. Below is the dialogue between the athlete and the prosecutor.
Are you pleading guilty to smuggling?
– I had not planned to bring anything prohibited, but I take responsibility for what was found in my luggage.
Do you admit your guilt?
– I understand the accusations, I confess my guilt on the fact of what happened, but I did not want to do this.
Are you pleading guilty to stockpiling without intent to sell in significant quantities?
“I understand the accusation, but I didn’t want to keep anything.
“Was there an intention to commit smuggling and stockpiling?”
– No, I didn’t think so. I didn’t plan for this and didn’t want to bring anything to Russia and store it.
Greiner, 31, has been playing for UMMC since 2015, winning two Olympics with Team USA (2016, 2020).
