The mentor also led the Ukrainian U-18 team
Valery Plekhanov, assistant coach of the Ukrainian national team, as well as the head coach of the U-18 team, became the head coach of Budivelnyk.
It is reported that the mentor has already joined his new team and started preparing for the Champions League qualification matches.
Plekhanov previously coached BC Donetsk, DniproAzot, Kryvbas, Zaporozhye and Kharkiv Sokolov. With Kryvbas, the coach won the bronze medals of the Ukrainian championship, and with Zaporizhzhia – the silver of the national championship.
Budivelnik will play the first qualifying match on 21 September against Sweden’s Norrköpping. If successful, the Ukrainian club will play with the German Bamberg for the right to reach the qualification final. The second finalist will be determined by the Golden Eagle from Kosovo, the Portuguese Benfica and the Cypriot Keravnos.
Earlier, FBU Secretary General Volodymyr Drabikovsky said that the new basketball season in Ukraine could start in October in an unusual format.
