Ukrainian basketball player “Kyiv-Basket” Vadim Zaplotinsky was arrested while trying to leave Ukrainian territory, then mobilized, reports sport.ua.
The events occurred on May 12. A 26-year-old athlete, part of a group of people, was arrested in the Bukovina region while trying to illegally cross the border between Ukraine and Romania.
— I have just learned that one of the kyiv-Basket players, who was crossing the mountains towards a neighboring country, was arrested by the border services. Then – acquaintance with the territorial recruitment center and passage to the training center of the airborne assault forces, – wrote Max Sergeev, president of the Kiev Basketball Federation, on the social network.
In the 2023/24 season, Zaplotinsky became a bronze medalist of the Ukrainian basketball championship and was recognized as the best defensive player.
