Ferro Carril Oeste received the Zárate Basket in Héctor Etchart de Caballito for the National League. The Purslanes were forced to win if they were to maintain their chances of qualifying for the playoffs. So, Fede Fernández’s team won and kept the dream alive more than ever, to get the victory in their last game against San Lorenzo, they are in the postseason.
One step away from sleep
The Caballito match started out close with back-and-forth points. Quickly and halfway through the first quarter, Oeste managed to take the lead and gradually, stretched its advantage over Zárate. After those led by Fede Fernández came to the fore, they never left the leader’s position in goals. Led by Valentín Bettiga (15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists), those from the Autonomous City were able to reach double digits in the distance to their rival. Ferro was strong with his mid-distance shot and went into the break leading by 10 points.
The second half is for locals. Oé dedicated himself only to extending his advantage against a Zárate that was left without any chance of having the postseason in his first performance in the National League. Emiliano Lezcano (19 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals) is one of the executioners of Manu Anglese’s team in his scoring. Along with Tucu was Rodrigo Gallegos (14 points, 3 rebounds, 9 assists, 1 steal) and together they achieved a very important victory for Caballito’s team. Ferro took the game by 11 points and is now just one victory away from returning to the playoffs, after failing to make it last season.
What’s next for you two?
In today’s match, Zárate finished his first participation in the National League with fifteenth position in the tournament. A very worthy performance for Manu Anglese’s team with many players debuting in the category and who matched the most powerful in La Liga. While Ferro will play its last match of the regular season on Thursday against San Lorenzo. The match against Cuervo is key for the Verdolagas, because if they win, they will qualify for the postseason with the twelfth position in the championship.
