Panathinaikos beat Real Madrid in the Euroleague 2023/24 final

The Greek club won the tournament for the first time since 2011 and moved into clear third place in the number of titles

Panathinaikos won a strong-willed victory over Real in the final Euroleague 2023/24which took place in Berlin – 95:80.

Real Madrid (tournament record holder with 11 victories) defended the championship title won in 2023 (then the Spanish club defeated Olympiacos in a dramatic confrontation). The club from the capital of Greece reached its first final in 13 years, confidently beating Fenerbahce.

At first, the game was in favor of the reigning champion. The productive first quarter ended in favor of the favorite – 36:25. In the second quarter, the Greeks improved and almost leveled the gap in the score. Still, Real went into the big break with a slight advantage – 54:49.

Madrid failed in the third quarter, scoring only seven points. Having taken the lead, PAO no longer allowed the opponent to get close to him. The Madrid team made their last push four minutes before the end of the match, but managed to reduce the gap to only “-4”. Their opponent played stronger at the end of the match, which was reflected in the final score.

The Greek team brought the match to a victorious end and won the Euroleague for the seventh time in history. The most productive player of the meeting was defender Kostas Sloukas, who scored 24 points.

In terms of the number of victories in this tournament, Panathinaikos came into clear third place – ahead of only Real Madrid, as well as CSKA from a country that has no place in the world of professional sports.
