Fifth and possibly final game of the Western Conference finals between Minnesota Timberwolves and Dallas Mavericks takes place this Thursday, 30
Karl-Anthony Towns He’s a monster whenever he plays away from home. But, when he acts in control of the court, something happens and his performance plummets. The giant simply can’t perform well in Minnesota. At least that’s what the numbers show. However, this time, the Minnesota Timberwolves will need a gala game from the player if he wants to stay alive in the finals of Western Conference against Dallas Mavericks.
In the regular season, the power forward had 20.3 points, with 48.1% on overall shots, 84.2% on free throws and 41.4% on the perimeter per game. But, the numbers increase whenever Towns plays away from Minneapolis. There were 23.3 points, with 52.6% on general shots, 91% on free throws and 41.8% on three-pointers. Apart from the perimeter, which is similar, the rest falls when KAT is in control of the court. Strange, but it could get worse, because in the playoffs the situation gets even more complicated.
Playing in Minnesota, Towns had 14.1 points, 35.6% shooting and just 30.3% three-pointers. But in the eight games he played away from home, he accumulated an impressive 22.3 points, in addition to shooting 54.4% overall and 40% from the perimeter. In other words, two completely different players. There are games in which he doesn’t produce anything offensively, but that’s because of the marking he’s been having, especially against the Mavs, who, even in Dallas, continue to perform below expectations.
