Doncic addresses rumors of fight with Porzingis: “I’ll be honest…”

Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic comments on comments from former Dallas Mavericks player Kristaps Porzingis, now with the Boston Celtics

During the week that Game 1 of the World Cup Finals took place, NBA 2024, a controversy arose over a possible rivalry between the Slovenian Luka Doncic and the Latvian Kirstaps Porzingisfrom when they still worked together for Dallas Mavericks. However, the star of the Texan franchise went public to deny any type of friction with the now pivot of the Boston Celtics. The two will face each other in the big decision of the North American basketball league starting this Thursday, the 6th.

“Man, I’ll be honest. I think since I got into the NBA I’ve talked to Chandler Parsons once or twice at most. So I don’t know where he got that from. I have a good relationship with Porzingis and there is no reason for it to be any different. I really didn’t understand”said the Slovenian, during a press conference last Tuesday, 4th, citing Chandler Parsons when denying the former teammate’s claim.

Parsons is one of the analysts on the program “Run It Back”, on “FanDuel TV”, presented by the journalist Shams Charania. Last Monday, the 3rd, the former player stated that he expected tension between the two former teammates, after the Latvian’s project in Dallas did not work out, citing that both Doncic and Porzingis did not like playing together.

“I believe it will be more violent for Kyrie in Boston. There is a hatred for him that is very real there. But people can’t forget that it will be cool to watch Porzingis in Dallas. The fans and many people in the franchise themselves don’t like him. Luka didn’t like playing with him. There is a certain feud there. I think every time we see him touch the ball in games played in Texas, Porzingis will be booed. So I think it will be a tense situation.”stated Parsons.

Porzingis was no longer as direct as Doncic. The Latvian said he is happy for the Mavs’ success in the playoffs, without mentioning the Slovenian point guard. “I think what they managed to do in 2023/24 is really cool. No problem, I think it’s really great. I played two and a half years in Dallas and, above all, I’m happy for everyone there experiencing this moment. I nurtured great relationships and friendships there. Therefore, I am very happy for them, they deserve everything they managed to achieve this year”stated the pivot.
