Boca defeated San Lorenzo in the first match of the quarterfinals and their series. Xeneize took a 1-0 lead after overcoming a double-digit lead on a Luis Conde lead. The confrontation will continue at the stadium of La Ribera in the second match where Ciclón will seek to win at least one game, today they are very close, but failed to seal the victory.

The match in Buenos Aires was about the visit, except the victory. San Lorenzo quickly took the lead against Gonzalo Pérez’s team who were unable to enter the game. The men led by Leo Costa easily dominated the game, in the first half, they managed to separate themselves by ten points from the locals. Boca managed to reduce that difference and briefly in the second quarter, they took the lead, however, it would not last long and Ciclón would once again position itself as the leader on the scoreboard. The dominant player in the paint was Kevin Hernández (20 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal) who led Cuervo to a five-point halftime lead.
The second half was very similar, it started with San Lorenzo very solid on the field. The only flaw of those led by Costa is the low effectiveness from the three-point shot, a tool widely used by their outside players like Grun. The visit reached a 13 point lead on the scoreboard, something they did not know how to maintain and Boca took advantage of Barça’s debacle.
Boca closed the gap on San Lorenzo to the lead. With three minutes remaining, Pérez’s team took the lead with an excellent Leonardo Mainoldi (20 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 block). However, the distance was too tight and there was still time for a possible comeback by Ciclón, something that did not happen. They had all the favor of Boedo’s team, but the losses caused by Xeneize’s fierce defense did not allow them to score. The La Ribera men won the first match by two units and the series will continue on Monday.
How does the series continue?
The series is 1-0 in favor of Boca and they have to play the second match also at ‘La Bombonerita’. San Lorenzo was very solid and came close to winning the game, if the shots went in from the three-point line, maybe the title would have been different. But at the moment Xeneize is leading after returning as locals.
