President of the CSKA basketball club Andrei Vatutin told that builders have started work on constructing the roof of the team’s new arena.
The last time the military team played USC CSKA was in the 2020/21 season. Then the “red-blues” held the home matches of the VTB United League at the sports complex, while the Euroleague matches took place at Megasport, where the team continues to play currently.
CSKA’s long-standing arena was commissioned in 1979 and demolished in 2022. A new sports palace is currently being built in its place.
— In March, you said that the construction of USC CSKA was progressing with some delay. How are you now ?
— Unfortunately, there are certain difficulties. They are mainly linked to changes within the Ministry of Defense. At the same time, Norilsk Nickel has a strong desire to successfully complete the project, for which a lot of efforts are being made. Construction is progressing, but not at the pace we would all like. Builders have already started work on the roof of the building and we are holding numerous meetings with designers regarding the interior of the arena. You always want to go faster, but the club does not have the possibility to influence certain processes,” Vatutin said in an interview with .
