Legendary former basketball player and Los Angeles Lakers general manager Jerry West has passed away at the age of 86. Famous journalist Shems Charania reported it.
Let’s remember that as an athlete, West played for the Lakers from 1960 to 1974, winning a championship with them and becoming the only MVP of a losing NBA final in history. He also played in 14 NBA All-Star games.
West achieved greater success after his professional career. As a general manager, West won eight championships (six with the Lakers, two with the Golden State Warriors) and was twice named NBA Executive of the Year.
Let’s add that West’s image is used by the league in the NBA logo.
