The son of Vitali Klitschko entered the preliminary application of the Ukrainian U-20 national team before EuroBasket

Now the blue-yellows are training in Lithuania

Maxim Klitschko, son of the mayor of Kyiv, former WBC and WBO world heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko, entered the preliminary application Ukrainian national team U-20 in basketball before EuroBasket.

According to team coach Valery Plekhanov, Klitschko Jr. has every chance of being included in the final bid for the European Championship.

“We have several newcomers, we can especially mention Maxim Klitschko. We considered all available Ukrainians. And the coaching staff and I found a player who had not played either in the Super League or in the national teams.”

“This guy’s parameters are very interesting: 218 centimeters, very long arms and a desire to go to college to major in basketball. Therefore, we got in touch with him, he expressed a desire to prove himself and for the third day now he has been competing with dignity and on equal terms for a place in the lineup with the guys of his role. Competition will show everything – the strongest wins. Whoever is the strongest in this position when the European Championship approaches will get a place in the squad.”

Plekhanov’s team began a training camp in the Lithuanian city of Mazeikiai, and 9 friendly matches are planned in preparation for the European Championship.

There are currently 18 basketball players at the training camp who are on the extended list of the Ukrainian youth team. 12 players will be included in the final entry for EuroBasket.

The European Championship (Division B) will be held from July 12 to 21 in the Romanian city of Piteste. The Ukrainian team’s opponents in the group round of the European Championship will be teams from Sweden, Hungary, Armenia, Kosovo and Moldova.

The top two teams in the group will advance to the quarter finals. European Championship finalists in Division B will be able to move up in class and move to Division A.
