Boston Celtics one step away from title
Ukrainian defender Boston Celtics Svyatoslav Mikhailyuk commented on his participation in the final series of the NBA playoffs.
“It’s an honor, it’s hard work and a little bit of luck. I feel blessed to be in this position and continue to play basketball. I feel like this is not just for me. It seems to me that this is the goal and dream of every basketball player. Of course, to win, to create your legacy. But just making people believe that anyone can succeed, and you leave behind a path that people can follow, and people [будут] try to walk along it. It is very nice”.
“I feel like I’m just here and part of a team that made it to the final. I feel like it brings joy to the people back home who support basketball, who follow basketball. I feel like I give people someone to look up to and make them happy in any way. Just to know that I’m from Ukraine and got here.”
Mykhailyuk became the second Ukrainian to play in the final series of the NBA playoffs. Mikhailiuk appeared on the court in Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Celtics and Dallas Mavericks. In 2 minutes and 40 seconds, the Ukrainian scored two points.
In total, Svyatoslav played 47 matches this season. On average, in more than nine minutes of playing time, the Ukrainian scores 3.6 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.8 assists. Mikhailyuk made it to the playoffs in six matches, averaging 3.5 minutes on the floor.
Let us remind you that the Celtics went through the Miami Heat (4-1), Cleveland Cavaliers (4-1) and Indiana Pacers (4-0) during the playoffs. The Ukrainian team is one step away from the championship title after three straight victories over the Mavericks in the final series.
