On Friday, the VTB League Council was held in Moscow, attended by the league management, representatives of participating clubs and members of the federations of the playing countries. It became known that “Runa” and “Minsk” will not be able to continue participating in the tournament, while the Belarusian club will play in the United Youth League championship.

— “Minsk” left us for purely sporting reasons. It’s a shame, because Minsk was part of it from the very beginning of the league’s existence. At first this team was called “Tsmoki-Minsk”, then simply “Minsk”. But at the same time, he never reached the playoffs, unlike other foreign clubs – the Czech Nymburg, the Polish Zielona Gora, the Estonian Kalev and the Latvian VEF. It didn’t work because there wasn’t enough budget. I don’t even know the precise amounts, but the budget is clearly insufficient. This is clear from the sporting results. “Minsk” itself requested to be excluded from the VTB United League, but with a very important condition: the Minsk team will continue to play in the VTB Youth League. “Runa” did not work out financially. The club has debts to the players. It so happened that the team played for a year and honestly admitted that it was not able to comply with the league regulations, ”the correspondent reports, reporting Ivanov’s words.
At the end of the season, CSKA became the winner of the VTB United League, defeating UNICS in the final series with a score of 4-1.
