Olympic returns against Platense in Buenos Aires

The Olympic Cyclist from La Banda defeated Platense at the Ciudad de Vicente López Stadium after winning a double-digit lead. El Negro lost the series 3-0 and qualified for the semifinals undefeated, now they have to wait for the Instituto or Regatas next time. The scorers were Eric Flor for the locals and Alex Negrete for the first semi-finalist.

The first to qualify for the semis

The match belonged to Platense for a large part of it, however, they did not know how to maintain the result and the bandeños took advantage. Throughout the first quarter, Cholo Vázquez’s team proved to be more than their rivals and dominated the scoreboard with limited distance, but they took the lead in the end. In the second period, they managed to distance themselves by 16 points thanks to Eric Flor (16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals), but Olympic quickly reduced that difference, although Brown again broke away with a double digit and they retired at the half -time up 11 points.

As soon as the second half started, Negro began to get closer to Platense on the scoreboard, but the locals maintained their superiority. However, and with an impeccable Alex Negrete (19 points, 4 rebounds, 1 recovery), Esteban Gatti’s team tied and managed to take the lead. The closing was too spicy, because the game could have gone to anyone and with Patricio Tabarez (16 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist) as the second offensive weapon, Olympic was able to lead the scoreboard and win the game by two units.

With the victory of the Olympic Cyclist, Platense ended his participation in these playoffs and perhaps the best season that the Buenos Aires club had in this category. The people from La Banda will continue the competition and after they swept the series against Calamar, they consolidate themselves as the first to qualify for the semifinals.

What’s next for Black?

Olympic de La Banda was the first team to qualify for the semifinals and had to wait for the definition between the Regatas and the Institute. El Remero has a 2-1 advantage in the series against Gloria and if they win on Sunday they can become Negro’s rivals. If Lucas Victoriano’s team advances to the next stage, they will be classified as the home team for finishing second in the regular season.
