Athens (C) 80 – Career (Ch) 57
The fifth match of the finals in the Argentine League, played on the ground of Córdoba, was all local. At the start, El Griego was able to mark a distance on Racing de Chivilcoy, unable to gain a foothold on the field. With their key player, Lucas Arn (21 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 steal), the ones led by Gustavo Peirone strengthened Cerrutti in decisive matches and with good defense, they kept the visiting team erratic. Athens retired at halftime ten points ahead and one step closer to the title.
In the second half, the Cordobans continued their good performance and further stretched their gap with the Chivilcoyans. The visit tried to stay in the game with Luciano Ortiz (15 points, 8 rebounds) at the helm, but at the start of the final period, the distance between the two seemed to define. Athens built a 26-score lead, its largest of the entire match, perhaps an exaggerated result given how the series turned out. The people of Buenos Aires reduced that gap with goals, and the Greek took the game with the title by 23 points.
