New Los Angeles head coach Lakers “JJ Redick has been appointed,” reports the press service of the National Basketball Association club.
The 39-year-old replaced Darwin Ham, who was fired in early May after the Los Angeles team was eliminated in the first round of the playoffs. The Lakers are Redick’s first NBA team.
Redick played in the NBA for Orlando, Milwaukee, Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Dallas. He retired from his playing career in September 2021. After that, Redick worked as a pundit for ESPN and in 2023 he became a commentator. In March 2024, Redick launched a joint podcast with Lakers star LeBron James.
