The Greek team managed to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with an incredible Giannis Antetokounmpo, after 16 years without being part of the event. They won all the games they played, both in the group stage, where they were part of Zone B, and in direct elimination matches.
They are local to the city of Piraeus and face the Dominican Republic and Egypt for the first time, then they play Luka Doncic’s Slovenia in the semifinal and beat a Croatia revelation in the fight for the ticket to Paris.
The Hellenes won the final 80 to 61 and with their figure contributing 23 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block. Giannis was selected in the perfect quintet of this stage and it is not surprising, because he led his country to be part of the Olympic event.

But the unexpected thing was the victory they got against the local team. Although, the Latvians do not have their figure and NBA champion, Kristaps Porzingis. The score closed at 94-69 in favor of Verdeamarela and Bruno Caboclo as the highlight of the match, where he contributed 21 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.
