Ukraine U-20 National Team suffered its first defeat on 2024 European Basketball Championship in Division B. In the third round match of Group C, the blue-yellows lost with a minimal score Sweden — 62:63.
The game was equal until the big break. The first quarter was won by the young Ukrainians, at the end of the half of the game the minimal advantage was on the side of their Swedish peers.
Valeriy Plekhanov’s team played poorly in the third quarter, allowing their opponents to break away – 40:53. In the fourth period of the game, Ukraine made a comeback, the main factor of which was the play of Nazar Kholod (15 points, 12 rebounds). Daniil Sypalo also played a traditionally strong match.
At the end of the match, the Ukrainians even managed to take the lead (60:59), but the final spurt was made by the Swedish team, which managed to snatch victory with a minimal advantage.
Plekhanov’s team is in third place in Group C after three rounds. Earlier in the tournament, the blue-yellows defeated Armenia (93:60) and Moldova (83:48). In the fourth round, Ukraine U-20 will play Hungary on July 16, kick-off at 20:30.
