Athletistic / Basketball. Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) President Andrei Kirilenko spoke about the VTB United League’s decision to invite foreign clubs to its Super Cup. In 2024, Red Star Belgrade and Besiktas Istanbul will come to Moscow.
“I feel good about it! The more international matches there are, the more experience the guys will have. Unfortunately, we are losing that,” Kirilenko told Sport-Express.
The VTB United League Super Cup will be held in 2024 for the fourth time in history. The last two draws of the tournament were won by Zenit St. Petersburg, and the first draw of the competition in 2021 remained with CSKA Moscow.
All Russian clubs have been suspended from participating in the Euroleague and other European club competitions since March 2022 due to the events in Ukraine. In the 2024/2025 season, Russian teams will be permanently without European Cups.
