Moscow CSKA sent an appeal to the court regarding the decision to withdraw the club from participation in the Euroleague basketball next season, reports Gazzetta.gr.
As the newspaper notes, the verdict of the Luxembourg court is expected within a few days.
In March 2022 Euroleague announced that CSKA, Zenit Saint Petersburg and UNICS Kazan were excluded from the current tournament draw due to the situation in Ukraine, their results were voided. After that, army club president Andrey Vatutin said “lawyers will make a decision” on what action to take to prevent the team from taking part in Europe’s most prestigious club tournament.
In June, it was announced that Russian teams would not play in the Euroleague and Eurocup in the 2022/23 season.
CSKA has a long-term A license, the club is a member of the Euroleague shareholder council.
