This stems from Embiid, 30, deciding not to play for France, which granted him naturalized citizenship in 2022 even though he has never lived there. The Cameroon native also received a U.S. passport in 2022; he moved to the United States at age 16. Since 2014, Embiid has played in the NBA for Philadelphia.
