At the Paris Olympics, fans booed an American basketball player who refused to play for France

At the Paris Olympics, fans booed an American basketball player Joel Embiid reports ESPN.

At the start of the Olympic basketball tournament, the American team beat the Serbian team with a score of 110:84.

French fans who attended Sunday’s game had a negative reaction to Embiid’s participation in the game. He was met with boos every time he did anything on the court, whether it was pre-game introductions, coming off the bench or touching the ball.

This stems from Embiid, 30, deciding not to play for France, which granted him naturalized citizenship in 2022 even though he has never lived there. The Cameroon native also received a U.S. passport in 2022; he moved to the United States at age 16. Since 2014, Embiid has played in the NBA for Philadelphia.

Team UNITED STATES In the next match, on July 31, he will face the South Sudan team.
