RFB chief Kirilenko said he does not see any movement towards Russia’s imminent return to the international arena.

President of the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) Andrei Kirilenko told that there were no signs yet of an imminent return of Russian athletes to international tournaments.

Russians have been suspended from international competitions in many sports due to the situation in Ukraine. Some international federations allow Russian athletes without national symbols.

— How could the Russian team perform at the Olympics if we were allowed to?

– They didn’t let us in. We traditionally play in the top three. We have a lot of athletes who perform well.

— Do you see any changes, any movements towards us being able to return to the international scene soon?

– Not yet. It doesn’t depend on sport, it’s a political story,” Kirilenko told .

At the Paris Olympics, 15 Russian athletes are competing in neutral status; their awards are not taken into account in the medal standings.
