The US team holds the lead, Serbia moved up to second place, and Germany is third.
Ukrainian men’s basketball team remained in 36th position in the updated world FIBA ranking.
The positions of many countries in the new ranking were seriously affected by the just-completed 2024 Olympics in Paris. Ukraine, which missed the tournament, was only one of nine teams that did not change its position in the top 40.
The leader of the rating is still the USA, the 17-time Olympic champion. Let us recall that the Stars and Stripes won the Olympics for the fifth time in a row on the night of August 11. Serbia, which won bronze medals in Paris, rose to second place from fourth. The Olympic vice-champions jumped straight from ninth place to fourth.
Germany had to move from second to third place. Spain, which was previously third, fell three places. Australia and Latvia also regressed in the ranking.
The Ukrainian national team played its last official matches in February. The blue-yellows lost away to Slovenia (73:87) in the first round of the EuroBasket 2025 qualification, and then lost to Portugal (77:79).
Vitaly Stepanovsky’s team will play the next two matches in the same competition at the end of November. In both, its opponent will be the Israeli team.
