The first ever four-point shot was implemented in professional basketball.
This happened during a Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) match between the Meralco Bolts and the Magnolia Hotshots. American basketball player Chris Banchero of the Bolts scored a successful try. The match ended with a score of 99:94 in favor of the Banchero team.
The Philippine Association was the first of the professional 5×5 leagues to implement the four-point line before the start of the season. The line is located 27 feet (8.2 m) from the ring.
