The Executive Committee of the Russian Basketball Federation (RFB) has extended the powers of Zoran Lukic to the position of head coach of the Russian men’s team.
The RFB coaching council recommended expanding the powers of Lukic and Alexander Kovalev as head coaches of the men’s and women’s national teams.
— Candidates for the positions of head coaches of the Russian men’s and women’s national teams have been approved. Zoran Lukic’s candidacy was approved for four years, Alexander Kovalev – until the end of 2025, a statement published on the RFB website says.
Earlier, Sergei Elevich, a member of the RFB coaching council, reported to that Lukich had been approved as the head coach of the Russian national team for the next Olympic cycle.
Serbian specialist Lukic led the Russian national team in October 2021. Lukic, 52, had a contract with RFB that ran until September. Until May 2024, he will combine his position in the national team with his work at the Parisian club Nizhny Novgorod. Kovalev has been coaching the Russian women’s national team since 2019.
