Head of the Coaching Council of the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) Stanislav Eremin told that the situation regarding the Colombian team’s match at the Friendship Cup was a slap in the face to Russian basketball.
Earlier, the Colombian Basketball Federation (FCB) announced that it had not sent the national team to participate in the Friendship Cup, which is taking place in Perm. In the opening match of the tournament, the Colombian team lost to Parma with a score of 53:155.
The RFB announced on Thursday that it is preparing changes to the Fonbet Friendship Cup match schedule.
— In the mid-90s, at CSKA, we were looking for opponents for training tournaments, and then we were very often deceived. We agreed on one thing, but things turned out differently.
“In this situation, it is a shame and a disgrace. I do not know who invited the teams and organized the competitions; usually, it is the federation that does this. For me, this is just a slap in the face to our basketball and Perm fans. Such situations must be checked,” Eremin told .
Currently, the tournament schedule on the official RFB website for Thursday includes two matches: at 14:00 (Moscow time) the teams of Colombia and Venezuela are expected to play, and a meeting between the Russian national team and Parma is scheduled for 17:00 (Moscow time).
The Fonbet Friendship Cup takes place from August 21 to 25.
