The country will continue all coronavirus restrictions in the new basketball season.

Canada will not change its coronavirus restrictions for NBA players. The league has informed all teams that players still need to be vaccinated to play in this country.

According to ESPN, a memo sent to the clubs also states that if players are ineligible to play in Canada, the teams must declare that the players fall under “safety and health protocols.” which will cause them to lose money for each unplayed match.

Note that these rules are not new and similar restrictions were in effect in Canada last basketball season. Because of them, they did not enter the country – Kyrie Irving from Brooklyn and Matisse Tybull from Philadelphia were the only players who refused to be vaccinated.

Because of his decision, Irving missed most of the 2021/22 season and Tybull missed three playoff games against the Raptors.

The Toronto Raptors are based in Canada. The team will play at least 44 home games this season: Edmonton vs. Utah preseason, Montreal vs. Boston, and Toronto vs. Chicago, with their usual 41 regular season home games.
