BC Zaporizhia signed ex-forward Prometey Petrenko

The 21-year-old player won the Premier League last season

BC Zaporozhye signed the former forward Prometheus by Alexander Petrenko.

The 21-year-old basketball player won the 2023/24 Major League as part of the club from Slobozhansky. Petrenko spent an average of 18 minutes on the court, scored 8.4 points and made 3.1 rebounds.

Let us recall that the president of SC Prometey Vladimir Dubinsky reported that the club and its sports academy were ceasing to exist due to pressure from law enforcement agencies. Dubinsky also announced his resignation as the president of the PVLU and vice-president of the FVU. Later, the executive director of SC Prometey Dmitry Paliychuk confirmed that the club was ceasing to exist.

Petrenko is a graduate of the Zaporizhia Youth Sports School No. 12. His grandfather, Alexander Shirobokov, previously headed Ferro, and his father, Valeriy Petrenko, was one of the best snipers of the Zaporizhia team. His older brother, Vladislav, also played for the second team of Ferro-ZNTU.

Petrenko became the fourth newcomer of BC Zaporizhzhya this summer. Earlier, Valeriy Plekhanov’s team signed Serafim Novikov, Vladislav Nikolaychuk and Sergey Skira.

BC Zaporizhzhya took fifth place in the regular championship of the FAVBET Super League-2023/24. In the playoffs, Valeriy Plekhanov’s team lost to Cherkasy Monkeys in the quarterfinals.
