Former basketball player Magic Johnson continues to invest in American sports teams.

Five-time NBA champion Magic Johnson has joined the Washington Spirits investor group.

Team owner Michelle Kang spoke about this in a joint announcement with the basketball player.

“Michelle has a first-class organization. I want to make sure that this sport, women’s football, can grow,” Johnson was quoted as saying by The Athletic.

“We are honored to welcome Irwin (real name Johnson) to the Washington Spirits. From the basketball court to the boardroom, Irwin knows how to win, and we are excited to rely on his experience as part of our amazing group of investors,” Kang said outside the club.

It is worth noting that Johnson is no stranger to investing in sports teams: he owns part of the shares of Los Angeles FC (MCS), Washington Commanders (NFL), Los Angeles Sparks (WNBA).

In May of this year, the 65-year-old American joined a group of investors led by the owner of the Philadelphia 76ers (NBA) and Philadelphia Flyers (NHL) Josh Harris. From 1994 to 2010, he was a minority shareholder of the Los Angeles Lakers.

He also partially owns parts of the Los Angeles Dodgers (MLB) club and the Team Liquid esports franchise.

We remind you that LeBron James previously announced if he will play in the home Olympics in Los Angeles.
