Bagatskis team continues preparations for 2023 World Cup qualification
Team of Ukraine in basketball went to a training camp in Turkey. The team of Ainars Bagatskis will play test matches with Turkish basketball players (the match will take place on August 11), Poland (August 12) and Slovenia (August 13).
14 basketball players left Riga for Istanbul: Denis Lukashov, Ilya Sidorov, Issuf Sanon, Vitaly Zotov, Svyatoslav Mikhailyuk, Pavel Krutous, Bogdan Bliznyuk, Ivan Tkachenko, Andrey Voynalovich, Artem Kovalev, Vyacheslav Bobrov, Vladimir Gerun, Dmitry Skapintsev, Artem Pustovoi.
“Each team is not a gift. Based on this, at some points I will limit the players, because now no one is ready to play. The maximum is 20 minutes. Of course, this will not happen in official games, but now we need to avoid injuries,” said head coach Ainars Bagatskis.
After the Turkish gathering, Ukraine will go to Finland. In Helsinki, another test match with the hosts is planned.
At the end of August, the Ukrainian national team will play the first matches of the second group round of the 2023 World Cup qualification, in which they will face the teams of Italy (August 24) and Iceland (August 27). On September 2, the blue-yellows will start at EuroBasket 2022.
