President of the VTB United League Sergei Kushchenko said league bonuses for clubs increased by 30% last season.
On Wednesday, the annual press conference dedicated to the opening of the budgets of the VTB United League clubs will be held in Moscow.
— I remind you that we are the only league that opens budgets. The league noticed that for the first time Zenit has the largest budget. Avtodor, Yenisei and Uralmash have the smallest budgets. Although “Yenisei” and “Uralmash” have become the discoveries of the season and can set things on fire this year.
Basketball is not played by budgets, but by organizations, teams and people. Operating expenses have increased, coaching staffs have started earning more, which means teams are keeping their specialists.
The league’s budget last season amounted to 1 billion 186 million rubles, and sponsors’ income increased.
“The clubs’ funding has been increased by 30%. The league’s budget is now at the level of the fourth team in the league,” the correspondent reported, citing Kushchenko’s remarks.
The new season of the VTB United League starts on September 21.
