Fridzon: “I voted for Kirilenko in the elections for the head of the RFB. You can see progress with him.

Olympic bronze medalist Vitaly Fridzon told that he voted for Andrei Kirilenko in the elections for the presidency of the Russian Basketball Federation (RFB) because he did a lot for the development of basketball in the country.

Kirilenko was re-elected as RFB president on Friday. He won the election with 143 of the 144 votes of delegates. A former basketball player, European champion and Olympic bronze medalist with the Russian national team, Kirilenko has been leading the federation since 2015.

— I myself voted for Kirilenko, I participated in the vote from the Bryansk region. He spoke about the future, about the importance attached to the development of children’s basketball. This is very important. Congratulations. I am happy for Andrey as a colleague and friend. I am glad that he remains in this position. Everyone can see the serious development of children’s basketball and schools under his leadership. How many sites have been built per region! How many children play basketball on them! So everything is correct.

What was and what is today are of course two different structures. Of course, a big step forward has been made, very big progress. And it is also very important that they are now building a large basketball center in Vnukovo. There will be everything for preparation: two or three halls, a hotel, weight training equipment, a fitness center. This has not happened before.

“We are of course looking forward to returning to international competitions. When we return, it will be interesting to see how we look there,” Fridzon told .
