Real Madrid with Lunin unexpectedly lost to Lille in the Champions League

The only goal was scored against the Ukrainian goalkeeper from the penalty spot

Lille won an unexpected victory at home against Real in the second round match Champions League – 1:0.

Bruno Genesio’s team worked almost perfectly in defense. The first half was heading towards a goalless draw when Eduardo Camavinga, after a set-piece, played with his hand, and the referee, after watching the video replay, awarded a penalty. Jonathan David approached the “point” and confidently beat the Ukrainian Andrey Lunin, who took the No. 1 position due to an injury to Thibaut Courtois.

The Ukrainian goalkeeper played for the first time this season and failed to keep the goal intact, but overall he played flawlessly, making two saves.

At the opposite goal, the Blancos’ stellar attack, led by Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior and substitute Kylian Mbappe, created several half-chances, but failed to find Luc Chevalier. In the last quarter of the match, Real pressed their opponent, but the Dogs survived, and Chevalier became a full-fledged hero of the match.

After two rounds, both teams have three points. At the end of October, Real will host Borussia Dortmund, and Lille will visit Atletico Madrid.
