Not the best start to Dejounte Murray’s career with the Pelicans.

New Orleans guard Dejounte Murray broke his left hand in the season-opening 123-111 win over Chicago, ESPN reports.

Tests after the game confirmed the injury to the 28-year-old basketball player, who was out of action for a long time.

Late in the fourth quarter, Murray hit a 3-pointer when Zach LaVine fouled him.

Dejounte dropped to the floor and began holding his left arm. He made two of three free throws and then left the court.

In his first official game for the Pelicans, the player scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists in 30 minutes on the court.

It can be remembered that Dejounte Murray was traded to New Orleans from Atlanta in exchange for two players and two draft picks.
