The Warriors’ crushing victory made it exactly one point more impressive.

On Thursday night, October 24, in the first game of the new NBA regular season, Golden State destroyed Portland on the road with a score of 139:104.

But a few days later the score of this match was officially changed.

According to ESPN, the league admitted that Warriors De’Anthony Melton’s successful free throw with two minutes left in the third quarter was improperly disallowed.

For some reason, a successful throw was recorded as a miss. In this regard, the NBA corrected this error, changing the score from 139:104 to 140:104.

Interestingly, this is how Golden State played the fourth opening game of the season, where the team scored 140+ points.

The Warriors scored an NBA-record 162 points in their opening game against Denver in 1990. Before that, as the San Francisco Warriors, the franchise scored 144 points against Seattle (1967) and 140 points against Detroit (1962 ).

Portland set a franchise record by giving up the most points in an opening game.

Chauncey Billups’ team surpassed the “accomplishment” of its predecessors when the Trail Blazers allowed 129 points in Cleveland in 1974, without a three-pointer in the league. This score was recorded thanks to four overtimes.
