The League believes that the club’s statements do not correspond to the player’s actual status.

The NBA announced on its official website that the Philadelphia 76ers have been fined $100,000 due to the controversy surrounding Joel Embiid’s health status.

An NBA investigation found that the Sixers did not violate the Player Participation Policy by allowing Embiid to miss games, but did so through public comments that did not adequately reflect health issues of a 30-year-old basketball player.

In its statement, the league called the comments by president of basketball operations Daryl Morey and coach Nick Nurse “inappropriate for Joel Embiid’s medical condition and in violation of NBA rules.”

The NBA said it confirmed Embiid will be out this season due to “left knee issues.”

According to ESPN insider Shams Charania, Embiid has been participating in several five-on-five workouts in recent days.

It was previously reported that Lonzo Ball had been sidelined for nearly three years due to serious knee problems.
