Point guard for the BYU (Brigham Young University) Cougars Egor Demine named National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Big 12 Rookie of the Week.
Demin became the first BYU Cougars men’s basketball player to receive the weekly Big 12 award.
The 18-year-old Russian averaged 19.0 points and 9.0 assists per game in two NCAA victories this season. Against Central Arkansas, Demin pulled down 11 rebounds, the most rebounds in BYU Cougars history by a freshman in his first game.
Zeke Mayo of Kansas also received Rookie of the Week honors.
Demin graduated from the Moscow Basketball Academy and Real Madrid.
