RBF General Secretary Galkina moved to work at FIBA Central Office

Russian Basketball Federation (RBF) General Secretary Natalya Galkina has left her post.

According to the RBF press service, he will continue to work at the headquarters of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in Switzerland.

— The news, of course, is exceptional, — said CSR Chairman Andrey Kirilenko. – I do not even immediately remember a single one of our officials or managers who would leave his country, his federation for an international, not only as an elected official, but to work under contract directly in the structure. It’s like an analogue of the transition of a player from a Russian club to an NBA team. Agree, the phenomenon is extremely rare. Natalia Galkina’s invitation to FIBA is a very serious indicator, an indicator of human activity not only in CSR, but in general at the international level.

“Is this a serious loss for the RFB?”

“Undoubtedly, a huge loss. It will not be possible to completely replace him immediately. She is a top sports manager. After all, I saw at what level of quality Natalya Vladimirovna worked all these years, how many projects she thought up and implemented. She thinks strategically, systematically, she is a very cool specialist. I repeat once again – it is a loss for us, but, on the other hand, I am happy for Galkina , I wish him the best of luck and success. In addition, his time at FIBA is always so prestigious for our federation. In the future, it will be difficult for us to keep the employees of the RFB apparatus – the people accumulate experience, want to grow, move forward, achieve their ambitions. Moreover, everyone tends to look for a new challenge. And with Natalia, we will continue to be in constant contact.

Galkina was appointed general secretary of the RFB in 2015.

Previously, FIBA suspended Russian teams and clubs from competitions under the organisation’s auspices due to the situation in Ukraine.
