Athletistic / Basketball. Legendary Russian basketball player, and now president of the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF), Andrei Kirilenko, commented on the resounding proposal from Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla. Previously, the mentor proposed introducing fights and power plays into the NBA.
“I think it would be a mistake to introduce this into basketball. I would not want to attend such a match. There is too much rigidity – yes, rudeness -, more,” Kirilenko was quoted as saying by TASS.
Andrei Kirilenko played in the NBA for the Utah Jazz, Minnesota Timberwolves and Brooklyn Nets. He was a star player in the North American League and was considered one of the best defensive forwards in the world in the 1900s. As a member of the Russian national team, Kirilenko became a European champion and medalist of bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in London (Great Britain).
Kirilenko ended his playing career in the summer of 2015 and was almost immediately elected president of the RBF.
