Stepanovsky: There are no unimportant matches in the national team, everyone understands this perfectly and is preparing one hundred percent for Israel

The blue-yellows will play two matches with the Israelis in Riga in the EuroBasket 2025 qualification – on November 23 and 25

Head coach Ukrainian men’s basketball team Vitaly Stepanovsky commented on the upcoming two-match duel with Israel in qualification for EuroBasket 2025.

“Israel is not only Madar and Sorkin, not only the players who play in the Euroleague. They also have very good players who play in Hapoel. They also brought in American Legionnaire Kadin Carrington, who is having a good season. They are strong in every position and we have to think about our game first and do everything to play to our strengths, play good defense and execute everything we have prepared 100%. Then there will be a positive result.”

“Everyone is ready for the match, except for Vitaly Zotov, who was injured and will not be able to help our team. All the other guys are in a good mood and came to the national team in very good shape.”

“The guys understand responsibility. There are no unimportant matches in the national team, everyone understands this perfectly and prepares one hundred percent, the emotional state is very good.”

Let us remind you that on November 13, an expanded list of 16 players for the matches against Israel in the qualification for EuroBasket 2025 was announced. Stepanovsky, commenting on the application, noted that it included some players who were injured in the previous window for national team matches.

Ukraine will play a nominally “home” match with Israel in Riga on Saturday, November 23. The meeting starts at 18:00 Kyiv time. Tickets can be purchased Here. The second meeting will take place at the same Arena Riga venue, where the Israelis will be the “hosts”. The fight will take place on November 25.

The Ukrainian national team played its last official matches back in February. In the first round of EuroBasket 2025 qualifying, the blue-yellows lost away to Slovenia (73:87), and then dramatically lost to Portugal (77:79).
