The player left the Zaporizhzhya club individually without approval
Head coach BC Zaporozhye Valery Plekhanov reported that the American defender had left his team Abdul Bah.
“We are again left without a legionnaire. This has nothing to do with the situation in our city. Unfortunately, after the successful matches of Abdulrahman Bach, two negative factors came into play in our team.”
“The first is the lack of professionalism of the Hungarian player’s agent. He decided to take advantage of his statistics and offered him a contract, the terms of which were significantly higher than ours. And the second is the player’s ignorance of the rules and laws of European basketball. Having a valid contract, he cannot sign an agreement with another club, but the agent did not explain this to him.”
“As a result, the player left our club individually without approval. Of course, we will not provide any absentee letters, because our club has fulfilled all the terms of the contract. However, the situation left us without a foreign player.”
“I emphasize once again that this is not related to the situation in Zaporozhye. Due to these circumstances, we had to train with a very limited team. We understand that in cup matches there is no room for error. The current situation with the roster opens up more opportunities for young players and those who have not yet proven themselves to the full.”
In October, two other American legionnaires, Sami Rowe and Sayvon Taylor, left BC Zaporozhye.
BC Zaporozhye won only 2 of the 9 opening matches of the FAVBET Super League-2024/25. In the standings, Valery Plekhanov’s team is in seventh position.
The Zaporizhzhya club will play its next match tomorrow, November 30, as part of the first round of the Ukrainian Cup. His opponent will be Kyiv-Basket.
