Head coach of Moscow basketball team and MBA club Vasily Karasev told a correspondent that through the All-Russian Spartakiad, the team continues to build match ties and prepare for the start of the United League season.
In the 1st round of the group round at the Basket Hall in Krylatskoye, the Muscovites beat the team from the Krasnodar Territory – 76:57.
— The MBA is preparing to make its debut in the VTB United League. Now, as a Moscow team, we participate in Spartakiad, and it’s a good test for us, an opportunity to train. And, of course, in the process of leading the team at the start of the club season, we are faced with the task of winning Spartakiad in every game.
— What can you say about today’s opponent?
– The Krasnodar Territory has good centers – tall guys who have already received training, including at Lokomotiv-Kuban in the United League. Plus the back line who played in the Super League. As soon as we lost slack, underperformed in defense or made bad decisions in attack, the opponent immediately punished us. Today we managed to get the win thanks to the aggressive style we imposed in defence. The offense has many shortcomings: you need to increase the hit percentage and add mutual understanding. It takes time to bond between players.
– Usually friendlies are played in pre-season training, but here it is an official tournament with serious cash prizes. What do you expect from the Spartakiad?
We want to grow with every game. And when there is an opportunity to win, then you have to win. If we show good basketball, we should win this tournament.
