US federal justice rewards widow of ex-basketball player Kobe Bryant $16 million for photos shared by Los Angeles County officials from the scene of her husband’s 2020 helicopter crash that killed him.
The nine jurors, who returned a unanimous verdict, agreed with Vanessa Bryant and her attorneys that county officials who photographed the remains of Kobe Bryant and their 13-year-old daughter Gianna and released the photos invaded his privacy. and caused him emotional distress, reports USA Today.
Photographs of the crash site were circulated primarily between the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office and the fire department.
Bryant died on January 26, 2020 at the age of 41 in a helicopter crash in California. His 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven other people were also killed.
