NBA clubsOklahoma City Thunder announced that 2022 No. 2 pick Chet Holmgren will miss the entire season with a right leg injury sustained in a CrawsOver semi-amateur championship game, ESPN reports.
Holmgren was injured early in the tournament in the fight against james lebron .
“Of course, we’re disappointed, especially given the excitement Chet has shown with his teammates this season,” Thunder general manager Sam Presti said in a statement. “We know Chet has a long career ahead of him with our team. One of the things that impressed us the most was his determination and focus. We expect perseverance to see him through this period as we work together and support him through his recovery.
Presti then told reporters that Holmgren would undergo leg surgery after the club consulted leading experts in the country. Presti confirmed Holmgren had a torn tendon, not a fracture, and noted the Thunder were optimistic about his long-term recovery.
In the 2021/22 season, the club finished 14th in the Western Conference and did not reach the playoffs.
