The defender of the basketball team of the Republic of Bashkortostan Ilya Podobedov commented for on the victory over the team of the Republic of Udmurtia (69:60) in the quarterfinals of the basketball tournament of the All-Russian Spartakiad.
According to the basketball player, a heavier responsibility burden could have affected the opponent’s game.
— You regained the “-14” gap and won a victory over the Superleague team. How is it possible?
– I do not know yet. Maybe we had fewer responsibilities. We met shortly before the Spartakiad, almost spontaneously. We didn’t train a lot and nothing pushed us psychologically. We play for fun. The guys from Izhevsk, on the contrary, looked a little embarrassed. In the decisive quarter, they did not always take the lead, and that worked.
– Udmurtia is represented at the Spartakiad by the professional club “Dome-Rodniki”. What’s your team ?
– And our team was formed directly for the Spartakiad. It had to be done in a short time. The coach called the guys – we agreed.
– You were born in Udmurtia and played against your republic. Special feelings after such a victory?
– There is extra motivation, yes, even if it’s not the first game against the home region. When it’s usual, then you come out prepared, you don’t “burn out”. In the first matches, it was just with this that there were problems. I tried to prove, to score. Now it’s calm – and the result is easier to achieve.
– Will it be even more fun? On Saturday, the semi-final against the Novosibirsk region and another Superleague club.
– Yes. We will fight, it will also be interesting. Come!
– How will you surprise your tough opponent?
“Prepared for steep attacks and a quick breakthrough,” Podobedov said.
The All-Russian Spartakiad Strongest Athletes Men’s Basketball Tournament is taking place in Moscow from August 22-28. In the semi-finals there are: Novosibirsk region – Bashkortostan, Krasnodar region – the winner of the Moscow / Irkutsk region pair.
