John Wallwhich is currently on Los Angeles Clippersspoke for the first time on the subject and received the support of great figures within the league such as LeBron James.
The point guard, about to turn 32, revealed that his problems began two and a half years ago after suffering a series of horrific injuries for an athlete to his knee and then to his Achilles tendon as he went through a very complicated family situation with his mother and his grandmother. “This is the darkest place I’ve ever been. At one point I even thought about suicide. I broke my Achilles, my mother got sick and then died and a year later my grandmother died, this in the middle of the COVID pandemic, with everything that was going on.. Go to chemotherapy sessions and seeing my mother take her last breath, lying next to her on the sofa in the same clothes for three days… If I can get through this, I can get through anything in life.”acknowledged the five-time All-Star and member of the third-best quintet in the 2017 season.
He added that he was successful because of the support of the fans of the various franchises he played for recently and that it was very important to seek professional help. “That the fans continue to support me, that they want to continue to watch me play, is very important to me. I need to get help, therapy. Many people think that they don’t need support, that they can get out of things whenever they want. But you have to be honest with yourself and know what you really need. And that’s what I did.”
These statements were a bucket of cold water for the entire community and inspired many other basketball players to send Wall their unconditional support. Among those messages, there is the LeBron James, who dedicated a heartfelt post to him on his personal Twitter account.
