Athletistic/Basketball. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has explained why the Lakers decided to give 37-year-old LeBron James a major contract.

“There’s a strong emotional component to it. Professional sports is different from business. In no other area do you find the kind of affection that NBA fans have for their players. I’m not saying all owners are guided by that, but when someone gives the club as much as you gave, say, Nowitzki to Dallas, then you just ask about their wishes and make them come true,” Cuban said.

LeBron James has signed a two-year contract worth $97 million. The agreement will come into effect in the summer of 2023.
