The second victory of the blue-yellows in the continental championship
Ukrainian national basketball team won Estonia (74:73) in the second match of the group stage European Championship 2022.
Blue-yellows failed the beginning of the meeting and allowed the Estonians to make a breakthrough 10:0. In the middle of the first quarter, the Ukrainians managed to level the score, but by the end of the 10-minute period, Estonia gained a slight advantage of six points – 21:15.
The second quarter was left for Ukraine, which reduced the gap to two points – 33:35. In the third segment of the game, the Estonians turned out to be stronger again.
The fate of the meeting was decided at the last minute. The victory was brought to Ukraine by Ilya Sidorov’s two-pointer 55 seconds before the end of the meeting.
The most productive player of the meeting was the defender of the Ukrainian national team Svyatoslav Mikhailyuk. He has 18 points.
This is Ukraine’s second victory at EuroBasket 2022. In the first round, the blue-yellows defeated Great Britain (90:61).
Ainars Bagatskis’ team will play their next match against Italy on 5 September. The beginning is at 22:00 Kyiv time.
The Blue-Yellows will also face Greece (September 6) and Croatia (September 8) in the group stage. The four best teams from the group will advance to the 1/8 finals.
