Olympiacos issue travel and ticket rules for Rennes trip

Olympiacos have issued urgent travel instructions for fans heading to France for the Europa League away match against Stade Rennais.

The Greek club published the directives following instructions from French police, outlining mandatory voucher exchanges, escorted walking routes, and strict stadium security regulations for visiting supporters.

Under the measures announced by the Piraeus side, fans who purchased lower-priced tickets will be required to join an organised police convoy, while those in higher-tier seats have been instructed to remove club colours.

Ticket collection and meeting point

Supporters holding 22-euro tickets who received a voucher must swap it for an official match ticket upon arriving in France. Olympiacos stated that the exchange will take place at Bar La Piste on Mail François Mitterrand in Rennes on 4 November, between 13:00 and 15:30 local time.

Travelling fans will not be allowed to make their own way to the stadium from that zone. From 15:00 local time, supporters will set off from the meeting point on foot under a direct French police escort.

The walking journey between the central meeting location and the stadium is expected to take approximately 25 minutes.

Neutral seating and safety warnings

A separate set of instructions applies to fans holding more expensive match tickets. Those who bought tickets priced at 75 euros can proceed directly to the stadium on their own rather than assembling at the bar.

However, Olympiacos instructed those ticket holders not to wear team colours, badges, or club insignia on matchday to protect their personal safety.

The club also issued an explicit warning regarding pyrotechnics, stating that flares are strictly banned inside and outside the venue. French police will arrest anyone caught using flares or fireworks.

Stadium regulations and payment rules

Inside the ground, visiting fans face additional operational restrictions. Olympiacos noted that all payments within the stadium must be made by card, with cash completely unavailable for purchases.

Supporters are also restricted on what personal items they can carry into the venue. The club warned that only bags up to A4 size will be permitted past the turnstiles.

The announcement stated that the match between Olympiacos and Rennes is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, 3 November, with kick-off set for 17:30 local time as part of the fourth round of the Europa League League Phase.

Background on the clubs and European campaign

Olympiacos, based in the port city of Piraeus in the Athens metropolitan area, are the most successful club in Greek football history. The Red and Whites made European history in May 2024 by winning the UEFA Europa Conference League, securing the first major European trophy ever won by a Greek club.

Stade Rennais, based in Brittany in north-western France, compete in Ligue 1 and play their home fixtures at Roazhon Park, a stadium located near the Vilaine river west of central Rennes with a capacity of nearly 30,000 spectators.

The UEFA Europa League features a 36-team single league phase format, replacing the traditional group stage. French authorities routinely impose tight gathering points and escorted walking corridors for European away fixtures to avoid disturbances between rival fan groups.
